#1: Journey 2 Self

Find out what motivated me to start my journey to self discovery and why I decided now is the time to share it with you!

Be sure to also check out the J2S tab to learn more about the nonprofit I created. If you would like to support, please consider donating and if intrigued, share your journey with us! You never know, we may reach out to interview you for one of the social media campaigns we are rolling out!

The intro

“I intentionally do not want you to see below my point by under-standing me. Instead, I ask that you invite my thoughts inside and inner-stand me.”

Welcome to my very first blog post! Let me begin by expressing my excitement, hesitation, and bravery as I have decided to analyze, remember, and reflect upon the journey I started to finding and being my true self.

Inner-standing vs. Under-standing

I intentionally do not want you to see below my point by understanding me. Instead, I ask that you invite my thoughts inside and inner-stand me. To do this, you must first know what my definition of true self is. In my truth, and opinion, a person's true self is the version of them that they are destined to be. I believe that every person has an energy source within them. This energy source (or soul- if you will), has a purpose and an intent. Knowing who your true self is can come easily for some but, for many of us, we have to travel a journey to discover who we are. And even when we reach the point of knowing, we must choose to continue the journey by living a human experience that is reflective of the soul you have discovered yourself to be.

Still here? Great! Lets go deeper..

“I think that is the beauty of the entire journey 2 self.”

For me, my journey seems to be a matter of me vs. me. The true me vs. the conditioned me. Meaning that there are times when I am my own cheerleader, competition and I am also my own limitation at times. I think that is the beauty in the entire journey 2 self. I once researched what a person's inner child was. An inner child, in my own words, is the child version of you. The part of you from the very first moment you took your first breath of life, to the time in which you became an adult. This is the innocent, fun, creative, imaginative, loving and curious parts of you. Different relationships, traumas, and/or encounters usually occur during our childhood that will affect the lessons and realizations we experience as we build the connection to reaching our true self. Remembering, healing, embracing, accepting, and loving little Aniqua has honestly been the start of my journey. Still to this day, I enjoy a scheduled, not able to be cancelled, session of shadow work.

Shadow work is time when I sit in solitude, sometimes with a candle, crystals, and a journal, and I think of the hard, yet necessary, moments from my past. These are the moments that shaped the me you see today. Often times its the suppressed qualities or traits that I use to hide that brings me the most healing. Opening the hidden parts of me and allowing those parts to be free resulted in me meeting my true self and attaining everything that the universe has to offer!

Get Inspired

If any of this resonates with you, I invite you to continue connecting with me through the social media platforms of the nonprofit that I serve as founding president and executive director of, J2S. Continue to look out for my weekly blog posts where I will share parts of my journey with you in hopes that it inspires and helps someone else while simultaneously freeing me. But most importantly, if this resonates with you, I ask that you comment, share and/or start your journey 2 your true self. Every blog post will end with some recommendations on how to begin and continue your journey. This post recommendation is to research what chakras are. Going to Journey 2 Self, Inc. IG, FB and website are great starting points. Be sure to add your comments and questions so that we can learn and journey together.

Until next time,

Uniquely Aniqua
