#15 The Sacral Chakra

Healing: The process of making or becoming sound or healthy again. This week's blog will focus on the sacral chakra and my journey working with this chakra. Before I began, I want to thank everyone who reads my blog! Continue supporting me and my journey by checking out the nonprofit that I founded, J2S, and donating!

Invisible Wounds

What if I told you that the secret to all of this was one word? That word would undoubtedly be "HEAL". When we have physical injuries, the need to heal is evident, but why do we not commit to healing the invisible wounds too? Over the next several weeks, I will be spending time blogging about my experience healing 7 key chakras. Last week I started with the root chakra, this week is all about the sacral chakra.

As with many things, issues with the sacral chakra can start in your childhood. For me, I formed a sense of denial as a child. Being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse that took place under the age of 5 and not being in an environment where it was addressed, caused me to create an alternate world. A world where happiness was the pursuit and discomfort was the trigger. I began to run away from things that felt uncomfortable very early in my life. As I began to work on healing my invisible wounds, such as denial, I started to focus on my sacral chakra.

What is it?

The sacral chakra is about connection and partnership. We are driven to connect by this chakra. My relationships with others were not always the best. If you are in a relationship that is not fulfilling you, or you enter into agreements because you do not want to disappoint others, then this post is for you. If you are refusing to end a relationship you've outgrown because you can not handle the thought of breaking the other person's heart, therefore you compromise your happiness, then I suggest you also focus on taking a deeper journey into your sacral chakra.

Every time we try to avoid or escape discomfort, we are doing a disservice to ourselves. It really is true that the best growth comes from learning to live through change/discomfort. Once I connected with myself through meditation and learning to sit still and breathe, I began to control my quick reactions. Instead of always looking to react/respond, I am focusing on being still because I now understand that even in discomfort, all is well. In order to begin working on this chakra you must start by acknowledging the need to heal. This is where journaling and reflecting on who you are in a real and honest way comes in handy. Look at your relationships to see where you may be shrinking in order to please others, where you may be settling or hesitating so that everyone, but you, is happy. Next, start to meditate. Literally sit in your discomfort. Do not move, just breathe and be mindful of all the thoughts and urges to move, but decide to remain as still as you can. Being consistent with this will lead to you improving your sacral chakra.

As you dig deeper into learning about this chakra, I recommend creating your own ways to heal this energy point. Your homework this week is to do just that, besides, isn't it time to do something for yourself for once?

Until next time,

Uniquely Aniqua
